Biography
Was born in 31 of January 1952 in Murmansk.
In 1969 he started his work for the Moscow region Arts center as a performing artist in the monumental shop.
He took evening courses of drawing at the State Moscow Surikov arts Institute at that time.
In 1972-76 he is a student of the faculty of artistic graphics of the Moscow Teachers Institute. Thanks to a famous Russian artist E.A. Kibrik in 1976 Dmitriy Ikonnikov was transferred to the second year of the State Moscow Surikov arts Institute.
He graduated from it in 1981.
In 1989 Dmitriy Ikonnikov took a sea trip on a fishing boat into the Berents and the White seas. His series of works ‘Life beyond the polar circle’ is full of his impressions about that trip Dmitriy Ikonnikov illustrated books of famous Russian and foreign authors.
Since 1974 Dmitriy Ikonnikov has taken part over 100 exhibitions in Russia and abroad; eleven of them were his personal exhibitions.
Dmitriy Ikonnikov’s works are in the collections of the Purchasing Commission of the Department of Culture of the Russian Federation, Russian Modern Art Museum, Korea National Gallery (Seoul, South Korea), SibEcoBank, as well as in private collections in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, USA, Japan, South Korea and Italy.
